Das Blogmedium stellt einen der Wegbereiter des Phänomens der persönlichen Selbstdarstellung im Zeitalter des Web 2.0 anhand des freien und ungehinderten Austausches von Informationen dar. Im Zuge der Verbreitung des Trends der öffentlichen Kommunikation, Partizipation und kollektiven Organisation, etablieren sich Blogs als Diskussionsplattformen, welche in Bezug auf die Gattung der Filmkritik für die Publikation selbstverfasster Reviews und filmkritischer Essays der Blogger Verwendung finden. Die in weiterer Folge entstandenen Debatten zwischen den Befürwortern und Gegnern der Filmblogs sind ebenso Teil des Inhalts dieser Arbeit, wie die Untersuchung der Motivation der Blogger, ein eigenes Blog zu eröffnen oder sich einem bestehenden anzuschließen sowie die verschiedenen Einsatzmöglichkeit der Filmblogs und deren Auswirkung auf die Entwicklung der Schreibkultur.
Im Anschluss an den ersten Teil der Arbeit, der eine Einführung in die Thematik der Weblogs und deren Organisation und Verbreitung im WWW darstellt, folgt eine umfassende Auseinandersetzung einerseits mit den innovativen Ereuerungen und Vorteilen, andererseits mit den Problematiken, die mit der Ära des Blogmediums und der Online-Publikation einhergehen. Diese Arbeit umfasst eine Untersuchung von sowohl stark als auch weniger stark frequentierten Filmblogs, welche anschließend im Hinblick auf ihre Qualität und jenen Kriterien, die eine Filmkritik zu erfüllen hat, mit dem Filmblog der Akademiker, Filmwissenschaftler und Autoren David Bordwell und Kristin Thompson verglichen werden. Schließlich mündet die inhaltliche Thematik der Arbeit in der Bedeutung des Blogmediums für die Entwicklung der Filmkritik selbst und dem Ausblick in die zukünftige Schaffens- und Organisationsform filmkritischer Abhandlungen im Print- bzw. Online-Format.

The medium blog is one of the gatekeepers of the phenomenon of personal selfrepresentation in the century of web 2.0 as it offers the user the chance of free and easy interchange of information with other users. As part of the distribution of the trend of public communication, participation and collective organisation, blogs establish itself as plattforms for public discussions. Concerning film critic blogs are used for publishing reviews and critical essays of the bloggers own composition. In further consequence proponents and opponents of film blogs fuel numerous debates which are summarized in the thesis. Further contents of the thesis are the investigation of the bloggers motivation, the different fields of application of film blogs as well as its effect on the development of writing culture.
Followed by the first part of the thesis, which includes an introduction on weblogs, its organisation and distribution over the WWW, the second part deals with innovations and advantages which are offered by the blog media on the one hand, and with the occuring issues caused by online publication on the other hand. In general, this thesis shows an extensive investigation of high frequented film blogs as well as low frequented ones, which are proved for their quality in comparison with film blogs of the academics, film critics and authors David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson. Finally the content of thesis leads to the blogs special meaning for the development of film critics and concludes in an prospective view on the form of organisation and the working progress of writing film critics as print- and/or online format.
