Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
The thesis deals with differences and common grounds between anthropology and journalism. It analyzes the possible benefits each discipline could gather through using tools and concepts of each other. Therefore it examines the workflow of the two disciplines. The underlying research question is: “Which relevance has Anthropology for journalistic work and - vice versa – which relevance Journalism has for anthropological work? The thesis suggests that anthropologists could gain a greater readership, if they would publish their findings in journalistic ways, like the reportage – additionally to their scientific publications. It suggests therefore the genre of the literary reportage. The second focus of the thesis lies on the field of Peace Journalism and presents three current concepts: the basic idea of Johan Galtung and the constitutive concepts of Nadine Bilke and Jake Lynch. It is also shown how this approach developed out of peace- and conflict studies. As an example how to combine the approaches of Peace Journalism, Anthropology and literary writing, the author analyzes the reportage “Schah-In-Schah” of Ryszard Kapuściński. The research questions therefore are: “Did Kapuściński work anthropologically in the field?” and: “In which parts comes the reportage ‘Schah-In-Schah’ up to the criteria of Peace Journalism?”
