Abstract
(Deutsch)

Abstract
(Englisch)
Background: The aim of this study was to find out how much the performance in the test for sport motor skills was influenced by the three somatotype components, the relative age effect, the chronological and biological age according to Tanner. Four teams of Rapid Young Athletes (U11-U14) were studied.
Method: A total of 75 young players, between 10 and 14, participated in anthropometric investigations, 69 of them in the determination of the biological age (Tanner stages). Sixty one players also took a test of motor skills specific to football.
Results: It is very clear that there is a significant (p<0.05) relative age effect in the four young teams, since about 70 percent of all the players were born in the first half of the year, and more than 40 percent in the first three months of the year. In addition, the median of the endomorph components of the somatotype (2.40) are the least distinct, and the mesomorph components are slightly more dominant (3.96) than the ectomorph components (3.87). When these results are compared to the sport motor skills tests, it can be said that the chronological age is the most significant influence (p<0.05) on the sports skills performance and that was confirmed in seven of the eight tests carried out. The biological age, which was analyzed using the Tanner stages, had a significant influence (p<0.05) on the performance of the players in two tests ( running ability, squat jump) and the endomorphic somatotype components in two tests (counter movement jump, 20m shuttle-run)
Conclusion: The results of the study show that beside the chronological age, especially the biologic development and the endomorph somatotype component influences sportmotoric performance, and therefore both the biological age and the somatotype are relevant for talent-diagnostics.
