In der hier vorliegenden Arbeit wird anfangs auf die Beziehung zwischen Wirtschaft und Politik eingegangen und auf die Varianten der Politischen Ökonomie kurz aufgezählt. Im Anschluss wird auf die Ökonomische Theorie der Politik auch als Neue Politische Ökonomie bekannt eingegangen, im speziellen werden Politisch Ökonomische Gesamtmodelle vorgestellt.
Im weiteren Verlauf der Arbeit wird das Frey-Schneider-Modell beschrieben, und die 24 Gleichungen des wirtschaftlichen Teils, sowie die 12 Gleichungen des politischen Teils erklärt.
In der darauf folgenden Fallstudie werden die Aussagen und Annahmen die das Simulationsmodell von Friedrich Schneider und Bruno S. Frey aufstellt an Hand historischer Daten von Österreich zwischen 1966 und 2011 analysiert und überprüft. Dafür wurde das Frey-Schneider-Modell mittels der Programmiersprache Visual Basic in Excel implementiert. Dabei stellt sich heraus, dass die Daten der Popularitätsfunktion des Simulationsmodells des Frey-Schneider-Modells bei dieser Fallstudie zum Teil doch sehr weit von den tatsächlichen Wahlergebnissen entfernt sind. Der Einfluss der Politik auf die Wirtschaft wird zum größten Teil durch bessere Wirtschaftsfaktoren hin zum geplanten Wahltermin bestätigt. Auch der Einfluss der Wirtschaftsfaktoren auf das Wahlergebnis kann man in den meisten beobachteten Fällen als bestätigt sehen, wobei im Simulationsmodell oft nur die Richtung des Trends stimmt, nicht aber das wirkliche Ausmaß der Änderung.

In this Diplomarbeit at the beginning there is the relationship between economy and politics discussed, and the different varieties of the political economy are mentioned. Further more there is presented the Economic Theory of Politics, also known as the New Political Economy, especially there are presented political economic models.
Then there is explained the Frey-Schneider-Model, with his 24 equations of the economic part, and the 12 equations of the political part.
In the next part of the work there is a case study, which deals with the Frey-Schneider-Model. The assumptions of the simulation model met by Friedrich Schneider and Bruno S. Frey are compared with original historic data from Austria between 1966 and 2011. There for the Frey-Schneider-Model is implemented into Excel with the programming language Visual Basic. Via comparing the data of the simulation model with the realities results of the elections, it can be said that most of the results of the popularity function are far away of the real results. The influence of politic on economy is mostly proved because the important economic factors improve the closer the estimated date of the elections gets. It is also proved that the economic factors have an influence on the results of the elections never the less the simulation model only shows the right trend, but not the real extend of the changes.
