Russland ist mit seinen Gasexporten stark abhängig von den Umsätzen in den europäischen Märkten. Umgekehrt ist vor allem die Europäische Union abhängig von Gaslieferungen aus Russland. Die Ukraine stellt als wichtigstes Transitland eine bedeutende geopolitische Komponente dar. Die Preise der Gaslieferungen aus Russland nach Europa sind großteils über Langzeitverträge definiert und an den Ölpreis gebunden. Diese Ölpreisbindung wird mittlerweile teils heftig kritisiert. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird zum einen ein konsolidierter Überblick über die russischen Gaslieferungen nach Europa dargestellt. Zum anderen werden die Auswirkungen von marktkonformeren Methoden der Preisfestsetzung von russischen Gaslieferungen nach Europa untersucht.

The Russian Federation is with its gas exports very dependent on the revenues that it generates in the European markets. On the other hand the European Union is dependent on natural gas supply from Russia. Ukraine as the most important transit country embodies a very relevant geopolitical externality. The prices of gas deliveries from Russia to Europe are generally determined through long-term contracts and bound via a pricing formula to the oil price. This method is meanwhile heavily criticized by some authors. Within this diploma thesis a consolidated overview on the Russian gas supply to Europe is given on the one hand. On the other hand the possible outcomes of a more market driven method of pricing of Russian gas supply to Europe is being analyzed.
