Die Arbeit "Bantu Stephen Biko & Black Consciousness. A Struggle for Eqality in a Racial South Africa" behandelt Bantu Stephen Biko's Gedanken und die Botschaft des Black Consciousness Movement (BCM). Ein Überblick über die Apartheid Legislatur und deren Auswirkungen (Aberkennung von Menschenrechten) auf die Mehrheit der südafrikanischen Bevölkerung, werden im ersten Kapitel dargestellt. Darauf folgt ein kurzer Einblick in die Politik und Struktur der Oppositionsparteien.
Der Hauptfokus der Arbeit liegt auf der Analyse der Botschaft und des Inhalts von Black Consciousness, als auch deren Formierung als philosophisch politische Organisation. Unter anderem, wird Bikos Definition von blackness genauer beleuchtet und dessen Bedeutung für den Kampf für eine farblose, egalitäre Gesellschaft. Steve Bikos Ansatz alle Menschen, die von Unterdrückung betroffen sind, in einer Gruppe (den blacks) zu vereinen, bietet eine breite Basis für die Analyse eines Systems, abseits einer rassischen Analyse und bietet daher eine brauchbare Theorie um die Situation des kapitalistischen Systems zu untersuchen, das weltweit für Ungleichheit sorgt.
Die Hauptthese, die sich in der Arbeit entwickelt hat, ist, dass die ökonomische Apartheid für die Mehrheit der SüdafrikanerInnen in Südafrika nach wie vor existent ist. Grund dafür ist das unterliegende kapitalistische System, welches Motor für das Funktionieren und die Notwendigkeit des Apartheid-Systems war, nicht verändert wurde. Das Grundproblem, das Biko gesehen hat, war die ökonomische Basis, die eine Perpetuierung eines Ausbeutungssystems gewährleistete und förderte. Black Consciousness beinhaltet Kapitalismuskritik und zielte auf die Idee einer "true humanity" ab, wo Politik für die Menschen praktiziert wird, anstatt für die finanzstarken Elemente der Gesellschaft.

The paper „Bantu Stephen Biko & Black Consciousness. A Struggle for Equality in a Racial South Africa“ deals with the examination of Bantu Stephen Biko's thought and the message of the Black Consciousness Movement (BCM). It includes a short overview of Apartheid legislation and the effects of restricting human rights of the majority of the population, as well as a short insight into the oppossition parties, their politics and structure.
Main focus is laid on evaluating the message of Black Consciousness and the formation as a philosophical political movement. Amongst others, Biko's defininition of blackness and its meaning in the fight for a colorless, equal society, is essential to understand the underlying motives of the movement. Steve Biko's approach to unite all people who were faced with oppression under the term „black“ opens a broad base for analysis away from racial line and therefore is a useful theory when it comes to the situation the capitalist world faces nowadays.
Major result is the thesis, that economic Apartheid is still alive for the majority of South Africa nowadays because the underlying capitalist system which was a driving force in the formulation of Apartheid policies, was not transformed. Biko's analyzis emphasized the importance of changing the underlying economic pattern of exploitation to achieve a change within the structure of society. Black Consciousness therefore include a capitalist critique and longed to achieve the vision of a „true humanity“, where politics would serve the people and not the financially strong part of the society.
