In der vorliegenden Arbeit geht es um die Erwartungen der muslimischen Eltern an islamische Religionslehrer im Raum Wien.
Die Probanden waren muslimische Väter und Mütter, deren Kinder den islamischen Religionsunterricht an einer Wiener Volksschule besuchen oder in der Vergangenheit besuchten.
Für folgende Kernfragen wurden Antworten gesucht:
Was erwarten die muslimischen Eltern von islamischen Religionslehrern?
Wie möchten sie von den Religionslehrern den islamischen Religionsunterricht präsentiert und gestaltet bekommen?
Möchten die Eltern traditionelle Unterrichtsinhalte, wie sie derzeit in den Moscheen vermittelt werden?
Die Teilnehmer wurden nach ihrer Bildungs- und Beschäftigungssituation, ihrer Erziehungsvorstellung, sowie nach ihrem Sprachniveau und Familienstand befragt. Hierbei war es wichtig, zu erfahren, welche dieser sozialen Hintergründe die Erwartungshaltung der Eltern prägten.
Über ein Drittel der Eltern (36%) sind für einen traditionellen Islamunterricht (Frage Nr.38).
Die durchgeführte Befragung zeigt, dass viele Eltern sich wünschen, dass der islamische Religionsunterricht einem Unterricht gleicht, der in Moscheen erteilt wird.

The topic of this master thesis is Expectations of muslim parents of Islamic religion teachers in Vienna.
I am fully aware of the importance and broadness of this area. Because of that reason, I focus on the attitudes and expectations of muslim parents towards Islamic religion teachers.
Since empirical research methods to gather data information were necessary, I had to choose an adequate research method. A quantitative research method was chosen. So I compiled question forms to collect information that was analyzed afterwards by common statistical methods.
I have compiled 45 questions and adapted these especially to muslim parents in Vienna, who had due their children contact with Islamic religion teachers at official state schools in Vienna. 54 of these question forms were returned fully filled.
An important finding of this work was that most of muslim parents are religiously, conservatively educated and therefore interested in educating their children in Islam in schools or in Islamic institutions like mosques or the like. Actually a great part of these participants would like to have their children traditionally educated i.e. by joining Qur'an courses in mosques or in private Islamic institutions.
Secondly, this work aimed to find the reasons why most parents prefer a traditional and not a modern Islamic education with its didactical and pedagogical methods. Because of this, the settings or backgrounds that formed and shaped the meanings and expectations of these people were examined and discussed.
Questions like “Why prefer parents qur'an courses in the mosques to the Islamic religion lessons in public schools and why they are in doubt about the quality of their children's islamic teacher?“ and the reasoning about possible answers might contribute to scientific research that is done in this field.
