Der Text Hilary Lloyd. Videoarbeiten 2007-2012. Ästhetik des Si(gh)t[e]-seeing beschäftigt sich mit den Werken der britischen Gegenwartskünstlerin Hilary Lloyd. Ihr choreographierter, hyper-ästhetischer und installativer Umgang mit dem Videobild, dem Display und dem Raum bilden den Indikator für eine umfassende Beschäftigung mit raum-zeitlichen, körperlichen und affektiven Wahrnehmungsprozessen innerhalb eines bestimmten Beziehungs- und Aufmerksamkeitsregimes. Hilary Lloyd nutzt die apperzeptive Kunst der bewegten Bilder und das räumlich-ästhetische Display um spezifische visuelle und perzeptiven Reize auf der Basis von Rhythmus und Zeit auszulösen. Obwohl die Motivebene der Videobilder mit den gewählten Sujets - Thighs, Moon, Motorway, Shirt, Pavement etc. - deskriptiv ist und eine audio-visuelle Faktizität an sich zeigen, bleiben die Videobilder durch die Anordnung im Split-Screen Verfahren, dem Rhythmus im Bild und dem Auswahlverfahren durch die Kamera oftmals abstrakt formal und bieten wenig semiotischen Rückhalt. Ihre bewusste Setzung von stimulierenden Impulsen, Bildstörungen, Glanzeffekte in den Videobilder und auf den Displays oder Spuren im Ausstellungsraum lösen Formen der Bewegung und Erregung im Raum aus: Anziehung, Ablenkung oder Abstoßung und in weiterer Folge Empfindungen von Lust, Begehren oder Langweile. Ihre Arbeit wird vorliegend im filmwissenschaftlichen, kunsthistorischen und medien-geschichtlichen Kontext vergleichend diskutiert. Abschließend wird mit Bezug zu Merleauy-Pontys phänomenologischen Untersuchungen und Franco „Bifo“ Beradis und Jonathan Crarys kulturwissenschaftlicher Analyse deutlich, dass Hilary Lloyds Arbeiten mit einem forschenden Blick unsere variable Weite unseres Zur-Welt-seins im Kontext einer gegenläufigen Performanz von Aufmerksamkeit an sich abbildet.

The Text Hilary Lloyd. Videoarbeiten 2007-2012. Ästhetik des Si(gh)t[e]-seeing keeps up with the work oft the British artist. Within a certain regime of attention her choreographed and hyper-aesthetic use oft he video, the precise mounting of the apparatus as a diplays and the incorporation of space leads to an comprehensive engagement with spatio-temporal, physical and sensitive suspensions of perception. Hilary Lloyd adopts the moving image and the display to provoke visual and perceptive excitments based on rythm and time. While the video sujet represents an actual descriptive audio-visuel reality - Thighs, Moon, Motorway, Shirt, Pavement and so on – yet the split-screen arrangement, the rythm and the framing of the image provokes an abstract-formal shape and a less semiotic detention. The stimulating pulses, interferences, glance effects in the videos and on the displays and trails of consturctions produce forms of movement and excitement within the (social / public / semi-public) space: attraction, distraction or rejection and subsequently feelings of lust, desire or boredom. The city itself remains the place where the human body encounters the human body, the site oft the gaze, of contact and pleasure. The result is an examination oft he relationship between concioussness and sensibilty in the exchange of signs. Her work will be comparative disucssed in the fields of film studies, art history and in the context of a media-technological-historical change. Apparently, related to Merleauy-Pontys phenomenological studies and Franco "Bifo" Beradis and Jonathan Crarys cultural studies Hilary Lloyds work reproduces a variable length of our beeing to-the-world in the context of a counter-performance of attention from a deliberated look and a voluntary attention towards an (e)motional drive and a more passive attention.
