Unterschiedliche Technologien haben sich daher entwickelt um diese neuen Anforderungen erfüllen zu können und die Konsumenten zu befriedigen. Location Based Services stellen eine dieser entscheidenden Technologien im Mobile Commerce dar.

In recent years, the usage of mobile internet has rapidly expanded. In this way, new possibilities for marketing arise. The technological evolution of mobile devices, innovations in communication networks, and advancements in information technologies foreshadow a brilliant and productive future outlook. As a result of the progressive usage of mobile devices, marketers prioritize mobile solutions. Mobile devices, therefore, not only represent new distribution channels, they serve as new business models. In this respect, the on and offline world conglomerate, as well as the individualism of goods and services assume new forms. This master’s thesis reveals the technological changes over the last few years, as well as the increasing acceptance of mobile commerce innovations. Furthermore, ascribed to the increasing ease of mobility, the adaptation of the marketing mix and the technologies of mobile commerce are addressed. Considering new consumer expectations and demands, in regards to mobile networking, the individualisation of customer approach becomes more imperative. Subsequently, modern technologies have been introduced to achieve current requirements of customer satisfaction. Location based services represent one of those important technologies.
