Abstract
(Deutsch)
Never Let Me Go überprüft.
Abstract
(Englisch)
The screenplay for a literature adaptation is an independent work of art, but which is always strongly connected to the novel which it is based on and to the feature film whose foundation it is. It is a text whose prime reason for existence is to be translated into another work of art. That is why the screenplay is a so-called teleological text whose specific properties are determined by another medium, the feature film. This thesis attends to the subject of the screenplay in its dual function as a translation of the novel and as the source text for the translation into a feature film. These functions of the screenplay are analyzed within the contexts of transtextuality and the notions of original, authorship and literature. The specific properties of the novel, the screenplay and the feature film are studied and examined by reference to the case example Never Let Me Go.
