Seit den 1990er Jahren beziehen sich KünstlerInnen vermehrt auf das Kino. Einerseits formal, indem immer mehr Black Boxes im Ausstellungsraum installiert sind. Andererseits inhaltlich, indem KünstlerInnen Kinofilme von Autorenfilmen bis Hollywoodklassikern aneignen, sie modifizieren und so neue Lesarten produzieren. Diese gegenwärtige Fusion von Kunst und Kino in Form von Bewegtbildinstallationen mit Kinofilmmaterial ist Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit. Es wird untersucht, wie sich raum-zeitliche Parameter vom Kino zum White Cube bis zur Black Box, dem Raum der Bewegtbildinstallation, ändern und welche Auswirkungen damit für die Rezeptionssituation einhergehen. Weiter werden künstlerische Strategien der Appropriation von Kinofilmmaterial in installativen Konzepten und damit verbundene Konsequenzen aufgezeigt.

Since the 1990s, artists have been increasingly concerned with cinema. On the one hand in a formal way by installing more and more black boxes in the exhibition room. On the other hand in terms of content by adopting cinema films from Hollywood classics to films d’auteur, which they modify and therefore produce new interpretations. This paper is concerned with this contemporary fusion of art and cinema in the form of moving image installations with cinema film footage. It is examined how the spatio-temporal parameters change from the cinema to the white cube through to the black box, the room of the moving image installation, and what impact this has for the situation of reception. Furthermore, artistic strategies of the appropriation of cinema film footage in installation concepts and the related consequences will be analysed.
