In Russland hat sich nach der Rubelkrise des Jahres 1998 eine kommerziell erfolgreiche expansive Filmwirtschaft entwickelt – ein nationales Blockbuster-Kino. Im Rahmen dieser Diplomarbeit wird zum einen analysiert wie die postsowjetischen Politstrukturen unter Präsident Vladimir Putin und die Entwicklung der gesamten russischen Volkswirtschaft diesen Prozess beeinflusst haben. Zum anderen werden formative Elemente nationaler Identität als narrativer Impetus auf die Gestaltung der filmischen Stoffe sowie Analogien zum Massenunterhaltungskino amerikanischer Prägung diskutiert. Als Analyseobjekte dienen jeweils zwei Filme der russischen Regisseure Timur Bekmambetow und Fjodor Bondartschuk.

After the Rubel Crisis of 1998 an economically successful, expansive film industry emerged in the Russian Federation. On the one hand this diploma thesis analyzes the influence of post-soviet political structures under president Vladimir Putin and the overall the development of the Russian economy on this process. On the other hand formative elements of national identity as narrative impetus on the development of cinematic content as well as analogies with a cinema of mass entertainment of American imprinting is being discussed. As the objects of analysis serve respectively two films of the Russian directors Timur Bekmambetow and Fjodor Bondartschuk.
