Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
The coastal detritic bottom is a habitat between the lower infralittoral and the deep sea and consists of mobile grounds, characterized by the presence of calcareous algae. As it is a non-communal habitat is relatively little studied however the extension of the National park of Port-Cros (Northwestern Mediterranean Sea, France) and its special condition due to the prohibition of bottom-trawling, allowed us to describe its state of conservation. The development of a new method, the so called BioCube (a photo-cage allowing to take samples in bigger depths with relatively low costs) revealed several interesting traits of the coastal detritic bottoms among five sites within the National park of Port-Cros (Giens, Porquerolles, Port-Cros, Le Levant and cape Lardier) at different depths (40 m, 60 m and 80 m depth). According to our results the richness in species rises with the presence of association forming species, suggesting that the evaluation of the state of conservation should be focused on these species. We found associations of Corallinaceae, Peyssonneliaceae, Osmundaria volubilis and Arthocladia villosa. Based on a high diversity and also a high percentage of organic recovery we suggest that the best state of conservation among the five sites is around the island Port-Cros itself.
