Ecuadorianische Migrant_innen in Österreich bewegen sich zwischen staatlichen und nicht-staatlichen Akteuren um den Sozialschutz für sich und ihre Familien gewährleisten zu können. Durch die Anwendung qualitativer Interviews und der non-local ethnography werden staatliche Transformationsprozesse, nationale und transnationale Politiken sowie die sich ergebenen Schutzdefizite und Bürgerstrategien, als Ressourcenumgebung zum Zweck eines transnationalen Sozialschutzes identifiziert und analysiert. Obwohl die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen Ecuadors signifikante Änderung hinsichtlich der Ausweitung von sozialen Rechten im Kontext internationaler und supranationaler Vereinbarungen aufweisen, verbleibt das Gesundheitswesen, die Pflegearbeit und der Komplex der sozialen Sicherheit hochgradig abhängig vom Einsatz privater Einzelpersonen, insbesondere von Frauen. Gleichzeitig führen fehlende Rahmenbedingungen für den Transfer sozialer Rechte zu einem ungleichen globalen Anteil an der sozialen Reproduktion von Arbeiter_innen.

Ecuadorian migrants in Austria negotiate with state and non-state actors to guarantee social protection for themselves and their families. Through qualitative interviews and non-local ethnography, the transformations in state attempts, new policies, protection gaps, and citizen strategies are identified and analyzed as a person’s resource environment for transnational social protection. Although the shift in the Ecuadorian government’s legal framework regarding social rights extension is significant and is related to international and supranational agreements, private individuals, and particularly women, are still rendered the main channels through which healthcare, care work and social security are guaranteed. The inability to transport rights in this sphere implies an unequal global share of workers’ social reproduction.
