Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit befasst sich mit der neuen standardisierten kompetenzorientierten Reifeprüfung bzw. Reife- und Diplomprüfung. Ziel ist es, der Frage auf den Grund zu gehen, ob Lehramtskandidatinnen und Lehramtskandidaten im auslaufenden Diplomstudium des Unterrichtsfaches Mathematik Aufgaben der nun zentral erstellten und standardisierten kompetenzorientierten Reifeprüfung in Mathematik lösen können, bzw. wie sie im Vergleich zu Erstsemestrigen abschneiden, die ihre Reifeprüfung bereits im neuen Modell absolviert haben. Zunächst wird hierbei erörtert, welche Ziele und Rahmenbedingungen hinter der neuen standardisierten kompetenzorientiertem Reife- und Diplomprüfung stecken, und welche Unterschiede zwischen der AHS- und der BHS-„Zentralmatura“ und der alten sowie der neuen AHS-Matura herrschen. Im Zuge einer Testung in Form einer „Mini-Matura“ nach AHS-Stil, welche Diplomstudentinnen und Diplomstudenten, sowie Erstsemestrigen vorgelegt wurde, wird dann auf die anfänglich gestellte Frage eingegangen. Dabei zeigte sich, dass Erstsemestrige besonders in Teil 1 schlechter abschneiden Diplomstudentinnen und Diplomstudenten gesamt gesehen aber nur geringfügig besser waren.

This thesis deals with the standardized final examination in Austria which was introduced in 2014 for grammar schools and 2015 for technical and vocational college schools. The aim of this research is to find out if students of the expiring teacher education program at the University of Vienna can solve mathematical problems in-cluded in the standardized final exams on par with students enrolled in the lately introduced teacher education program who already had to pass the standardized ex-amination in mathematics to receive permission to study at the University of Vienna. In order to better understand the centralized examination system in mathematics, the aims and overall conditions of the examination will be presented. Furthermore, the differences regarding the exam between technical and vocational college and grammar schools will be elaborated. Moreover, the standardized final examination will also be compared to the former final examination. It was attempted to answer the research question by conducting a shortened mathematics exam consisting of two parts. Part one tests the students’ basic mathematical skills whereas part two measures the ability to solve more complex and elaborate mathematical problems. Students of the expiring and the new teacher education program volunteered to par-ticipate in the study. The results show that students enrolled in the new education program perform worse in part one and overall, yet students of the expiring program only perform slightly better.
