Für die vorliegende Masterarbeit sind zwei Bereiche maßgebend. Einmal der Bereich Kommunikation und der Bereich Konflikt. Diese sind eng miteinander verwoben.
Die Forschung hatte zum Ziel einen Vergleich in Bezug auf Konfliktbehandlung der Generation der Digital Natives und der Generation der Digital Immigrants zu erarbeiten, und zwar unter dem Aspekt der Nutzung der Neuen Medien. Die allgegenwärtige digitale Kommunikation via Neuer Medien war Anlass sich diesem Bereich genauer zu widmen.
Die Untersuchung wurde anhand der dokumentarischen Methode nach Ralf Bohnsack durchgeführt. Es wurde bewusst eine qualitative Methode gewählt, um tiefgreifende Informationen zu den Handlungsmustern der Teilnehmer zu erlangen. Insgesamt wurden drei Gruppendiskussionen abgehalten. Eine Gruppe mit Digital Natives, eine Gruppe mit Digital Immigrants und eine gemischte Gruppe. Mittels der interpretativ-rekonstruktiven Inhaltsanalyse wurden das gewonnene Material ausgewertet.
Markant an den Erkenntnissen ist, dass zwischen den Generationen der Digital Natives und Digital Immigrants, in Bezug auf Konfliktbehandlung, die Handlungsmuster ähnlich sind und denselben Beweggründen entsprechen. Obwohl die digitale Kommunikation zunimmt, greifen die Teilnehmer bei ihnen relevanten Konflikten bevorzugt auf face-to-face Kommunikation zurück.

Concerning the present master thesis, there are two fields of interest. One field ist about communication und another one about conflicts. Those two fields are closely interacting.
The aim of this science is about the dealing with conflicts, in comparison between two generations - the generation of Digital Natives and the generation of Digital Immigrants, plus considering the steady usage of the "New Medias". Due to the omnipresent digital communication this field has been looked at more closely. The examination was carried out with the "Documentary Method" of Ralf Bohnsack. This qualitative method was chosen deliberately, in order to find deeper informations concerning the action-samples (actions) of the, in the group discussion, participating persons.
All together three group discussions have been held. One group only of Digital Natives, another group of Digital Immigrants and one mixed group. With the interpretative-reconstructive-content-analysis the material has been evaluated.
Very interesting on the findings of the comparison of the two groups of Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants, related to the dealing with conflicts, is that the actions are very similar and that they occur due to the same motives.
Though the digital communication increases, the participants like to chose the face-to face communication, when it comes to conflicts which are especially relevant to them.
