Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to investigate the athletic identity and motivation of young people in badminton sports in the DACH-countries. For this purpose, an online questionnaire collected data on athletic and social identities, as well as motives for sports activities. The results are evaluated and compared with gender and national differences. In the theory section, definitions are explained and the development of badminton sport is presented worldwide, but also especially in Austria. Furthermore, there is a summary of the structures of young talent promotion in the three countries. The empirical study includes a total of 142 athletes, 45 from Austria, 61 from Germany and 36 from Switzerland. The athletes play in the group from U17 to U22 and train an average of 11.89 hours of badminton during the week. The statistical evaluation includes the description of the sociodemographic data, as well as the hypothesis test using the statistical program SPSS 24.0. The results have shown that Germany and Switzerland differ in terms of sporting identity. The performance motive, the social motive and also the fitness motive are equally important in all countries, nevertheless the social motive receives the highest approval in all three countries.
