Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
In each book on quantum physics, the reader sooner or later encounters the description, solution and interpretation of the quantum oscillator. Most of the time, only the most basic mathematical prerequisites are introduced. But behind hide many important mathematical statements and their consequences. The main aim of the present diploma thesis is to provide this mathematical background information which is necessary for the description and solution of the quantum oscillator. My work is divided into two major parts. In the first part, we will work out the mathematical basics and in the second part we solve the harmonic oscillator. In chapters 1 and 2, we will summarize the most important basics of functional analysis and functional theory (complex analysis). In Chapter 3, we will construct a suitable Hilbert space, the Fock space, and examine its properties. This construction is relevant as an adequate representation of the quantum mechanical states. In chapter 4, we take a quick look at the world of quanta. We explore the mathematical description of physical states and observables as well as the well-known Schrödinger equation and Hamilton operator. In the last chapter, we turn to the representation of the states of the harmonic oscillator and their solution of the energy spectrum. The harmonic oscillator potential is probably the most widely used potential in physics as it is able to represent physical potentials in the vicinity of a stable equilibrium. We will construct two new operators: the annihilation- and creation operator. These play the central role in the solution of the Schr¨odinger equation of the harmonic oscillator. In addition, we will compare two different equivalent representations of the states. First, we present the states and the spectrum in the sequence space l2 and then in the Fock space A2(C,e−|z|2).
