Die heutige Informationsgesellschaft ist ohne die digitalen Medien der Information und Kommunikation nicht mehr vorstellbar, sie sind mittlerweile nicht nur Teil unseres Lebens und Alltags, sie sind auch Kulturgut.
Vor allem die Jugend hat eine besondere Beziehung zu diesen Medien, denn sie ist mit diesen Medien aufgewachsen und baut ihre sozialen Kontakte mit ihrer Hilfe auf und pflegt sie durch sie. SMS, Email, Chat, Messenger, Skype, Facebook, Blogs, etc. sind alles Medien über welche die Jugend kommuniziert und ihre Freundschaften aufrecht erhält.
Die Jugendlichen sind Vorreiter in der Nutzung von digitalen Medien und aus diesem Grund zentrales Thema dieser Arbeit. Sie haben gelernt, besser und schneller mit diesen Medien umzugehen und wissen genau, wann sie welches Medium einsetzen müssen.
Durch die Analyse von SMS, Emails und Chats von Jugendlichen aus Spanien, Italien und Österreich wird versucht, die Mediennutzung durch die Jugendlichen zu beschreiben, sowie die darin verwendete Sprache zu analysieren, um herauszufinden, ob es Ähnlichkeiten bzw. Unterschiede gibt. Was führt Jugendliche dazu, ein gewisses Medium zu benützen und welche Sprache verwenden sie dabei? Was passiert mit der Schrift? Ist die Veränderung des Schriftbildes eine globale? Dies sind alles Fragen, denen in dieser Arbeit nachgegangen wird. Den Rahmen bildet eine soziologische Beschreibung und Analyse unserer Informationsgesellschaft, sowie die Darstellung und Erarbeitung der neuen kommunikationswissenschaftlichen Problemstellungen, die aufgrund der digitalen Medien entstanden sind. Insgesamt soll so ein möglichst breites Bild der Jugendkommunikation in unserer heutigen Informationsgesellschaft entstehen.

It’s hard to imagine today’s information society without the communication and information technologies. Not only are they part of our daily life, but also part of our cultural heritage.
No other age-group identifies itself with these new media so much as the youth. They grew up with them and construct and maintain their social structures through them. SMS, Email, Chat, Skype, Facebook, Blogs, etc. are all media with which the youth communicates and look after their social networks.
The youth form the avant-garde in the use of the digital media and because of this they are main topic of this paper. They have learned how to use these media faster and better and know exactly in which situations they should apply them.
By analyzing SMS, Emails and Chat protocols of spanish, italian and austrian youth the author tries to describe the media usage, as well as analyze the language employed therein. The objective is to find out if there are similarities or rather differences between them. What drives to use a specific medium and what language do they employ? What happens to the script? And is script-change a global phenomenon? This paper tries to answer all these questions. The sociological description and analysis of our information society, as well as the representation of the new problems of the communication science, form the framework of this paper. The objective is to create a wide overview of the youth-communications in today’s information society.
