Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
Cross-cultural electronic negotiation is a relatively new topic of research, however, is inevitable and understanding the influence of different factors on the negotiation process is crucial, as it will help and facilitate the understanding of the counterpart, their behaviour and motives. The purpose of this master thesis is to investigate to which extent cultural background influences the electronically mediated negotiation (hence as e-negotiation) as compared to the face-to-face negotiation. Based on the thorough literature research and studies it was discussed the influence of individualistic and collectivistic cultural dimensions on electronic negotiation. In the focus of the thesis is the cultural dimension of individualism and collectivism, according to the cultural dimensions by Hofstede. Members of individualistic cultures perceive themselves, as individuals or as a part of a larger group; while members of collectivistic cultures are integrated into groups and they are expected to follow the interest of in-groups. Members of individualistic and collectivistic cultures have unique negotiation behaviour not only when negotiating face-to-face, but also when the negotiation takes places via communication media.
