Die vorliegende Dissertation betrachtet das Thema des spirituellen bzw. religiösen Tourismus, welches in den letzten Jahren in der Slowakei an Bedeutung gewonnen hat. Es handelt sich dabei um eine interdisziplinäre empirische Arbeit an der Schnittstelle der Fachbereiche Sozial- und Kulturanthropologie sowie Pastoraltheologie.
Im Fokus der Forschung steht das Projekt ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘ mit seinen umfangreichen Prozessen, die zur Transformation und Revitalisierung des Ortes zu einer spirituellen bzw. religiösen Tourismuslandschaft führen sollen. Das Ziel der Dissertation ist die derzeitige Bedeutung der kleinen Sakralbauten im Kontext des Projektes ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘ zu verstehen, zu beleuchten und zu interpretieren. Die Grundlage der Analyse und Interpretation sind Informationen über das Projekt ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘ aus Dokumenten, Literatur und den geführten Interviews.
Im theoretischen Teil dieser Arbeit geht es zuerst um die thematische Einführung in die Pastoraltheologie mit der Erläuterung der kirchlichen Transformationsprozesse in der Region Ostmitteleuropa. Das Thema Tourismus ist der katholischen Kirche nicht fremd, jedoch hat sich die slowakische katholische Kirche mit diesem zeitgenössischen Phänomen noch nicht genügend wissenschaftlich und pastoraltheologisch auseinandergesetzt.
Der Begriff religiöser bzw. spiritueller Tourismus umfasst die Dimensionen des Reisens und der Religiosität bzw. Spiritualität. Diese Dimension des Tourismus gewinnt auch in der Slowakei an Attraktivität und ist für die Kirche in der Slowakei zunehmend interessanter. Ein Beispiel dafür sind einige Projekte in dieser Richtung, in welchen gerade die Kirche ein aktiver Kooperationspartner ist. Für die Kirche bietet sich somit die Möglichkeit, durch die religiösen Kulturgüter oder durch die neuentdecke Sakrallandschaft, wie im Falle des Projektes ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘, ihre pastoralen Angebote zu erweitern, näher bei den Gläubigen und den Suchenden zu sein sowie ihre Kulturschätze zu präsentieren. Das sind auch die Ziele des Projektes ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘, welche in der Arbeit empirisch analysiert werden.
Die Forschung betrachtet die Erkenntnisse der Bedeutung der kleinen Sakralbauten für die lokale Bevölkerung in der Region Mittelzips aus zwei Perspektiven: Einerseits sind es die kleinen Sakralbauten als materialisierte Zeichen, durch welche die Menschen ihre gelebte Religiosität zum Ausdruck bringen und den Gegenständen eine lokale und individuelle Bedeutung zuschreiben. Anderseits bringt diese Arbeit die kleinen Sakralbauten in den Kontext des Projektes ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘. In der thematischen Darstellung der Analyseergebnisse geht es um die Interpretation der Transformation der Bedeutung von kleinen Sakralbauten. Die Arbeit zeigt wertvolle Erkenntnisse auf, insbesondere wie diese Prozesse gelaufen sind. Gleichzeitig benennt sie die Herausforderungen, aber auch die positiven Seiten des Projektes.
Die Ergebnisse der Analyse haben gezeigt, dass der Bedarf nach einer weiteren Entwicklung des Projektes immer noch sehr groß ist. Die Reflexion der Analyse vertieft die Frage, was diese Ergebnisse für die pastorale Arbeit im Projekt ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘ bedeuten und welche Konsequenzen sich aus den Ergebnissen ableiten lassen. Es handelt sich dabei um die Betrachtung der sakralen Dimension des Ortes ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘, des ‚Zipser Jerusalems‘ als pastoralen Raum und als gemeinsame Vision der Ortskirche und der lokalen Bevölkerung. Außerdem bringt die Reflexion Impulse zum Thema Seelsorge von Touristen, die das ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘ besuchen und stellt die Kirchenpädagogik als pastorales Angebot dar.
Die Dissertationsarbeit stellt nicht nur eine thematische Auseinandersetzung mit der Entwicklung, den Herausforderungen und den Zielen dieses Projektes ‚Zipser Jerusalem‘ dar, sondern präsentiert das Projekt als eine gemeinsame Vision, die Einrichtungen und Menschen zusammenbringt. Das ist auch die Basis der pastoraltheologischen Reflexion der Arbeit, die einige Zukunftsvisionen für die Ortskirche und lokale Bevölkerung darlegt und die das ‚Zipser Jerusalem’ als Begegnungsort sieht.

This dissertation examines the topic of spiritual and religious tourism, which has gained importance in Slovakia in recent years. It is an interdisciplinary empirical work at the interface of social and cultural anthropology and pastoral theology.
The focus of the research is the project ‘Zipser Jerusalem' with its extensive processes, which should lead to the transformation and revitalisation of the place to a spiritual or religious tourism landscape. The aim of this dissertation is to understand, illustrate and interpret the current significance of small sacred buildings in the context of the project 'Zipser Jerusalem'. The basis of the analysis and interpretation is information about the project 'Zipser Jerusalem' from documents, literature and interviews.
In the theoretical part of this work, a thematic introduction to pastoral theology will be given and will explain the Church transformation processes in the Eastern (Central) European region. The topic of tourism is not alien to the Catholic Church, but the Slovak Catholic Church has not yet sufficiently dealt with this contemporary phenomenon scientifically and pastorally.
The term - religious or spiritual tourism includes the dimensions of travel and religiosity or spirituality. This dimension of tourism is also becoming more attractive in Slovakia and is increasingly interesting for the Church in Slovakia. An example of this are some projects in this direction in which the Church is an active cooperation partner. Thus, the Church has the opportunity to expand its pastoral offers through religious cultural assets or through the new discovery of the sacred landscape, as in the project 'Zipser Jerusalem', to be closer to the faithful and the seekers as well as to present its cultural treasures. These are also the aims of the project 'Zipser Jerusalem', which is empirically analysed in this work.
The research looks at the findings on the importance of small sacral buildings for the local population in the Middle Zip region from two perspectives: On the one hand, they are the small sacral buildings as materialized signs through which people express their lived religiosity and ascribe a local and individual meaning to the objects. On the other hand, this work brings the small sacral buildings into the context of the project 'Zipser Jerusalem'. The thematic presentation of the analysis’ results deals with the interpretation of the transformation of the meaning of small sacred buildings. The work shows valuable insights, in particular how these processes have been carried out. At the same time it identifies the challenges, but also the positive aspects of the project.
The results of the analysis have shown that there is still a great need for further development of the project. The reflection of the analysis deepens the question of what these results mean for the pastoral work in the project 'Zipser Jerusalem' and which consequences can be derived from the results. It is a reflection on the sacred dimension of the place 'Zipser Jerusalem', the 'Zipser Jerusalem' as a pastoral space and as a common vision of the local Church and the local population. The reflection also provides impulses for the pastoral care of tourists visiting 'Zipser Jerusalem' and presents Church pedagogy as a pastoral offer.
The dissertation is not only a thematic examination of the development, the challenges and the goals of the project 'Zipser Jerusalem', but presents the project as a common vision that brings institutions and people together. This is also the basis of the pastoral theological reflection of the work, which presents some visions for the future of the local Church and the local population and which sees 'Zipser Jerusalem' as a meeting place.
