Die Schriften des Neuen Testaments berichten nur in wenigen Perikopen von Maria, der Mutter Jesu. Jene Verse, die Maria in den Vordergrund des Geschehens treten las-sen, sind jedoch reich an inhaltlicher Tiefe. In der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit wird die Gestalt Marias unter dem Blickwinkel ihres hörenden Seins erforscht. Dabei wird deut-lich, dass dem Hören nicht nur im Neuen, sondern auch im Alten Testament, in dessen Tradition Maria steht, eine große Bedeutung zukommt. Im Zuge dessen zeigt sich einerseits eine enge Verbundenheit zwischen dem Akt des Hörens, des Glaubens und des Gehorsams und andererseits zwischen der Dimension des Hörens sowie dem Gottes- und Selbstverständnis Marias. Daraufhin folgt eine Ergründung dessen, wie Maria zum Lebensraum für das Wort Gottes wird. Dabei wird besonders ihre bewahrende Wesensart als Analysegegenstand herangezogen, ebenso wie der Aspekt der Gottesmutterschaft. Hier wird deutlich, dass Maria in einen inneren Dialog mit dem Wort eintritt und dieses mit solch einer Offenheit empfängt, dass sie es der Welt auf eine neue Weise weiterschenken kann: Das Wort wird Fleisch in ihr. In einem abschließen-den Kapitel wird zunächst erforscht, wie der Christ aufgrund seiner Transzendenzfähigkeit dazu ermächtigt ist, nicht nur Angesprochener sondern auch Antwortender auf den Ruf Gottes zu sein. Maria wird als Vorbild für den Christen im Hier und Jetzt in den Blick genommen. Dabei zeigt sich, dass der Christenmensch heute zwar nicht in derselben Art und Weise eine Gemeinschaft mit Gott pflegen kann wie Maria, er aber den-noch in Gemeinschaft mit Gott leben kann. Dies ist ihm dann möglich, wenn er hörend offen ist für Gott und wie Maria immerzu auf ihren Sohn blickt.

The scriptures of the New Testament tell only in a few pericopes about Mary, the mother of Jesus. However, those verses in which Mary is put at the forefront of the events are rich in profundity concerning their content. In this diploma thesis, the figure of Mary is explored from the perspective of her being a listener. It becomes apparent that listening is of great importance, not only in the New, but also in the Old Testa-ment, in whose tradition Mary stands. Thus, it can be asserted that on the one hand, there is a close connection between the act of listening, faith and obedience and on the other hand between the dimension of listening and Mary’s understanding of God and herself. This chapter is followed by an exploration of how Mary becomes the place where the word of God is alive. In particular, her treasuring nature is used as the ob-ject of analysis, as is the aspect of her divine motherhood. It becomes clear that Mary enters an inner dialogue with the word and receives it with such openness that she can pass this gift on to the world in a new way: The word becomes flesh in her. In the final chapter, it is first explored how the Christian, by his ability to tran-
scendental perception, is empowered to not only be the one who is addressed but also the one who is replying to the call of God. Mary is considered a role model for the Christian way of living in the here and now. It turns out that although the Christian today cannot cultivate the communion with God in the same way as Mary did, he can still live in communion with God. This is made possible by being open to receiving and listening to God and by always looking at Jesus, just as Mary did.
