Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
This thesis aims to investigate soft gluon evolution at next-to-leading order (NLO), i.e. adding soft gluon corrections, both real emissions and virtual exchanges to a hard, short-distance scattering process. In this context "soft" refers to gluons emitted at an energy scale much smaller than the one of the hard process. The main part of this work is thus dedicated to analyse the one-loop/one-emission and two-loop Feynman diagrams involving soft gluons in order to provide the basic ingredients if one aims to perform soft gluon evolution and to resum non-global logarithms at next-to-leading logarithmic level as well as beyond the large-N limit of QCD. The analysis of the diagrams is separated into two parts - the colour structure and the kinematical part. Treating the amplitude as a vector in colour space, it is decomposed in terms of the colour-flow basis. The general form of the soft anomalous dimension matrix at one-loop/one-emission and two-loop order in the colour-flow basis is determined by analysing the colour structures. As a result of this analysis structures of special importance at two-loop order are obtained which extend the sum over two-parton correlations, usually referred to as "dipoles", to include three-parton correlations as well. Using the Feynman tree theorem (FTT) to treat the kinematical part allows one to efficiently rewrite the loop integrals in the form of phase-space integrals. In this way it is possible to combine the loop integrals with the emission contributions at the integrand level of a cross-section in order to demonstrate the cancellation of infrared (IR) divergences. In particular, the FTT is reformulated such that one can use it in the presence of eikonal propagators as well as at the two-loop level.
