Abstract
(Deutsch)
The present thesis is about the German contemporary artist Jonathan Meese and his work. Basically I analysed his Performance Fräulein Atlantis which took place in the Essl Museum. The theoretic frame contains the examination of Jonathan Meese his self-manifestation, his relationship to his mother, his method of work, the influence and inspiration that he got from other artist but also the way Jonathan Meese is handling with a diversity of material and with different media. Beside this I tried to point out his main assumption about art which is based on the idea of the revolution of art and as a consequence of this revolution the dictatorship of art which he is trying to achieve. Jonathan Meeses work rages from painting to sculpture, installations, and performance art. Furthermore Meese has worked as a stage designer and director. The fact that his art is so multifarious is one of the major reasons for his esteem in the art world.
