Diese Masterarbeit zum Thema „Politische Partizipation im Netz: Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des digitalen Aktivismus“ behandelt die Auseinandersetzung von politischen Jugendlichen mit digitalem Aktivismus und politischer Kommunikation online. Ein weiteres Interesse der Forschungsarbeit liegt darin, die Auswirkungen des digitalen Aktivismus spezifisch auf die politische Linke zu beziehen. Der Fokus liegt daher auf politisch linken Jugendbewegungen, in diesem Falle auf der KJÖ, die kommunistische Jugend Österreich, und der jungen Linke, und wie diese die Plattform Instagram nutzen, um politische Partizipation auszuüben, beziehungsweise zu fördern. Dies wird im Rahmen einer qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse erforscht. Die Arbeit basiert also zum einen auf einer Literaturrecherche, und zum anderen auf einer eigenständigen qualitativen Forschung durch Leitfadeninterviews gekoppelt mit einer Bildanalyse. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Wirksamkeit des digitalen Aktivismus zu diskutieren, indem man Vor- und Nachteile, sowie Chancen und mögliche Probleme des digitalen Aktivismus identifiziert und interpretiert.

The title of this master thesis is "Political participation online: advantages and disadvantages of digital activism". It examines the relationship that young, politically involved people have with digital activism and political communication online. Furthermore, this paper examines what effect digital activism has specifically on the political Left. In this case, the two youth organizations, KJÖ, (the communist youth of Austria), and junge Linke (the young left), and their execution of political participation, as well as the methods used to motivate others via the social media platform Instagram, are examined with the help of a qualitative approach. This approach consists of a literature review and, on the other hand, a qualitative content analysis based on in-depth interviews. In addition, a picture analysis is conducted. The goal of this paper is to discuss the efficiency of digital activism by identifying advantages as well as downsides to digital activism and discussing the chances and problems that this could eventually entail.
