Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Identifizierung geeigneter Analysemethoden von Kooperationen im Bibliothekswesen, um eine umfassende und allgemeingültige Bewertung dieser zu ermöglichen und sich somit der konkreten Forschungsfrage, die die Stärkung der Kooperation der österreichischen Koha Community zur Debatte stellt, anzunähern. Hierzu wurde die sozialwissenschaftliche Kooperationsforschung, die sich vor allem der Spieltheorie und seinem beliebtesten Modell dem Gefangendilemma bedient, auf geeignete Analysemethoden hin geprüft. Im Ergebnis erwies sich die Anknüpfung an die Forschung zu Gemeingutressourcen des Workshops in Political Theory and Policy Analysis an der Indiana University als besonders geeignetes, aber überraschenderweise wenig rezipiertes Forschungsfeld. Aus diesem Grund kann diese Arbeit unter anderem als explorative Studie verstanden werden, die die Analyse- und Entwicklungsmethoden der Gemeingutforschung (Design Principles oft he Commons, The Grammer of Institutions, Institutional Analysis and Development Framework, Social-Ecological Systems Framework) anhand des Informations- und Bibliothekssektors darlegt. Besonderes Augenmerk wird hierbei auf die Open Source Softwareentwicklung in diesem Bereich gelegt, was sich auch im Anwendungsbeispiel der österreichischen Koha Community widerspiegelt. Die Analyse der Situation von Koha in Österreich wird mittels Ergebnissen einer Umfrage für Koha Anwender:innen und Koha Interessierte am Beispiel des Social-Ecological Systems Framework vorgenommen. Die daraus gewonnenen Erkenntnisse dienen zum einem der Weiterentwicklung der österreichischen Koha Community und zum anderen als praktisches Anwendungsbeispiel der vorgestellten Analysemethoden.

The scope of the present thesis is the identification of suitable analysis methods for cooperation in the library sector in order to enable a comprehensive and generally applicable evaluation of such cooperation. This approach aims to address the specific research question concerning the strengthening of cooperation within the Austrian Koha Community. To achieve this, social science cooperation research, particularly drawing from game theory and its most popular model, the Prisoner's Dilemma, was examined for appropriate analysis methods. As a result, the connection to the research on common-pool resources by the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis an der Indiana University proved to be a particularly suitable but surprisingly underexplored research field. For this reason, this work can be perceived, as an exploratory study that illustrates the analysis and development methods of common-pool resource research (Design Principles of the Commons, The Grammar of Institutions, Institutional Analysis and Development Framework, Social-Ecological Systems Framework) in the context of the information and library sector. Special consideration is given to open-source software development in this domain, as reflected in the case study of the Austrian Koha Community. The analysis of the situation of Koha in Austria is carried out through the application of the Social-Ecological Systems Framework, using the results of a survey conducted among Koha users and interested institutions as an example. The findings gained from this serves the further development of the Austrian Koha community and as a practical example of the analysis methods presented.
