Diese Arbeit untersucht die Rolle von Diaspora-Organisationen (DOs) in der humanitären Hilfe im Kontext der Syrienkrise. Es wird untersucht, wie sich ihre Ansätze von denen traditioneller humanitärer Akteure unterscheiden, insbesondere hinsichtlich der Prinzipien, die ihre Arbeit leiten. Trotz der großen Aufmerksamkeit, die Mitgliedern der Diaspora als Entwicklungsakteur:innen zuteil wird, ist ihre Rolle in der humanitären Hilfe nach wie vor wenig erforscht, was zu einem fehlenden Verständnis und Vertrauen zwischen Diaspora-Organisationen und dem formalen humanitären System führt. Durch den Vergleich beider Formen der humanitären Hilfe soll die Studie die Stärken und den Beitrag der humanitären Hilfe der Diaspora aufzeigen.

This thesis examines the role of diaspora organizations (DOs) in the humanitarian response to the crisis in Syria. It examines how their approaches and challenges differ from those of traditional humanitarian actors, particularly in terms of the factors and principles that guide their work. Despite the great attention given to members of the diaspora as development actors, their role in humanitarian action remains understudied, leading to a lack of understanding and trust between diaspora organizations and the formal humanitarian system. By comparing both forms of humanitarianism, the study aims to highlight the strengths and contribution of diasporas to the humanitarian response in Syria.
