Im Sinne einer gegenwartsorientierten Zukunftsanthropologie zentriert rund um die mediierenden Dimensionen planetarischer Imagination untersucht diese MA-Thesis das emergente Science-Fiction Genre Solarpunk, welches als spekulative Kunstbewegung, globales Hyper-Projekt und memetischer Superorganismus zum gemeinsamen Visionieren post-fossiler, post-kapitalistischer und post-dystopischer regenerativer Zukünfte einlädt. Zur Erforschung der Liminalität zwischen Imagination und Realität wird Solarpunk als präfiguratives Instrument zur Kultivierung erneuerbarer Beziehungen zwischen der virtuellen Grenzenlosigkeit der Imagination und ihrer tatsächlichen Bedingtheit untersucht. Die Auseindersetzung mit Zukunftsfiktion als experimentellem Forschungsfeld dreht sich um die katalytische Phänomenologie der Zukunfts-Gegenwartsachse und die kreative Epistemologie spekulativer Artefakte. Um dies zu beleuchten exploriert diese Thesis (a) die solar-terrestrische Ontologie als deszendentalem Gegenentwurf zu konventionellen solaren Utopien, (b) das Zusammenspiel von Vision, Vibe und zukunftsorientiertem Handlungsvermögen als affektiver Pädagogik um zu “lernen, die Zukunft zu lieben”, (c) die reziproke Dynamik mimetischer Strategien oszillierend zwischen Bio-Mimikry und Solar-Mimikry, (d) wie Solarpunk kritisch, konstruktiv und doch ambivalent auf die anthropozentrische Hybridität zwischen Kunst (artificiality) und Natur antwortet, sowie (e) wie die Zukunftsfiktionen und spekulativen Artefakte aus Solarpunk-Welten als erneuerbare Infrastrukturen für die planetarische Imagination selbst imaginiert werden können. Durch eine kritische und kreative Spiegelung der in der Solarpunk-Bewegung vorgefundenen Projektionen, Prinzipien und Praktiken wird spekulativ erprobt wie eine reimaginierte zukunftsorientierte Anthropologie zu radikalen Reorientierungen und Metamorphosen kollektiver Horizonte im anbrechenden Zeitalter beitragen kann.

To outline a future-oriented but present-bound anthropology centering around the mediating dimensions of the planetary imagination, this thesis explores Solarpunk – an emergent science-fiction genre, speculative arts movement, planetary hyper-project and memetic super-organism that resources the sun’s quasi-infinite gifting to amplify regenerative transitions towards post-fossil, post-capitalist and post-dystopian timelines. Speculatively surveying Solarpunk as a renewable futures research tool for projecting and prefiguring recyclical relationships between the imagination’s virtual boundlessness and its actual contingencies (contingencies of boundlessness), this thesis interrogates (a) Solarpunk’s solar-terrestrialism as a purely immanent, cosmo-botanical stance on the axis mundi, (b) how its intersection of vision, vibe and action can mobilize an affective pedagogy for “learning to love the future”, (c) how the reciprocal dynamism of its memetic engine oscillating between solar-mimicry and bio-mimicry can catalyze runaway refuturing, (d) how it critically tangles liminalities between art(ificality) and nature, as much as (e) how its future fictions serve as a infrastructure for the planetary imagination itself. Centering around the catalytic phenomenology and creative episteme of speculative fiction as an experimental way of seeing and Solarpunk’s unique planetary vision of heliocentric descendentalism, this thesis preconstructively imagines how the joyous and skillful amplification of renewable relationships with artificially crystallized future alterities can hijack and transfigure collective horizons in the age to come. Probing fictional sediments of imagined timelines as speculative fieldsites, it is investigated how a renewed future anthropology can contribute to critically informing, radically reorienting and regeneratively energizing collective imaginings and tangible enactments towards more beautiful, vibrant and pluriversal planetary tomorrows.
