Vor dem metatheoretischen Hintergrund der Kulturpsychologie untersuche ich in meiner Masterarbeit die App My ADHD mithilfe der Walkthrough-Methode. Dabei wird eine App systematisch analysiert, indem ihr Aufbau und ihre Funktionen bewusst verlangsamt durchschritten werden. My ADHD wird in diesem Kontext – angelehnt an den Foucaultschen Dispositivbegriff – als Mikrodispositiv verstanden, das sich innerhalb eines Makrodispositivs gesellschaftlicher Macht- und Wissensstrukturen bewegt. Ein zentrales Interesse der Arbeit liegt in der Frage, wie ADHS in der App dargestellt, diagnostiziert und definiert wird und welche kulturellen, sozialen und ökonomischen Rahmenbedingungen diese Darstellung prägen. Ziel ist es, durch die Feinanalyse der App diejenigen Strukturen sichtbar zu machen, die das Dispositiv prägen und somit auch auf das Makrodispositiv rückzuschließen, in dessen Logik sich die App bewegt. Außerdem ist die Frage nach dem Notstand (urgence) entscheidend, auf den die App reagiert. Die Auseinandersetzung mit My ADHD zeigt, wie stark die Machtwirkung des Makrodispositivs ist. Inhalte und Funktionen der App spiegeln gesellschaftliche, ökonomische und medizinische Gegebenheiten wider. Auffällig ist dabei, dass die App und die begleitenden Videos, obwohl sie doch scheinbar zur Selbstermäschtigung aufrufen, sich innerhalb der Logik medizinischer Autorität bewegen und bestimmte, vorherrschende kulturelle Vorstellungen von ADHS verstärken.

In my master's thesis, I analyze the app My ADHD within the metatheoretical framework of cultural psychology using the Walkthrough method. This method systematically examines an app by deliberately slowing down the process of navigating through its structure and functions. In this context, My ADHD is understood – drawing on Foucault's concept of the dispositif – as a ‘microdispositif’ operating within a ‘macrodispositif’ of societal power and knowledge structures. A central focus of the thesis is the question of how ADHD is represented, diagnosed, and defined within the app, and what cultural, social, and economic conditions shape this representation. The aim is to make visible, through a detailed analysis of the app, the structures that shape the dispositif and, by extension, to trace them back to the ‘macrodispositif’ within whose logic the app operates. Additionally, the question of “urgence” to which the app responds is crucial. The engagement with My ADHD demonstrates the strong influence of the ‘macrodispositif’. The content and functions of the app reflect societal, economic, and medical realities. Notably, even though the app and its accompanying videos seemingly call for self-empowerment, they operate within the logic of medical authority and reinforce certain prevailing cultural notions of ADHD.
