Die Diplomarbeit behandelt die nachkonziliare Reform der Tagzeitenliturgie in der römisch-katholischen Kirche mit einem besonderen Fokus auf die Feier in der Gemeinde. Der Inhalt der Arbeit ist wie folgt gegliedert: Das erste Kapitel behandelt die Entwicklung der Tagzeitenliturgie von der Zeit der ersten Christen bis zum Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzil. In diesem Kapitel wird aufgezeigt, dass die Tagzeitenliturgie vielerorts sich als eine Gemeindeliturgie entwickelt hat und so auch das ganze erste Jahrtausend n. Chr. verstanden und gelebt wurde wurde. In weiterer Folge wer-den die Gründe genannt, warum die Tagzeitenliturgie in der römisch-katholischen Kirche immer mehr zu einem Privatgebet der Kleriker wurde. Die restlichen Unterkapitel befassen sich dann ausschließlich mit der weiteren Entwicklung in der römisch–katholischen Kirche bis zum Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzil. Das zweite Kapitel geht dann auf die Reform der Tagzeitenliturgie im Zuge des Zweiten Va-tikanische Konzils ein. Dabei sind vor allem der Konzilstext „Sacrosanctum Concilium“, welches den Anstoß für die Reform gab und die „Allgemeine Einführung in das Stundenge-bet“, welche den Abschluss darstellt, von Bedeutung. Doch auch die Schwierigkeiten und unterschiedlichen Positionen während der Arbeiten an der neuen Tagzeitenliturgie werden beleuchtet und erklärt. Ein kurzes Zwischenkapitel befasst sich sodann mit der Theologie der Tagzeitenliturgie und ihrer Bedeutung im Leben der Kirche. Dabei wird auch die Frage warum es für die Christen so wichtig so eine Form der liturgischen Feier zu pflegen. Das vierte Kapitel, welches auch das größte ist, wird sodann der Blick auf den heutigen Zu-stand der Tagzeitenliturgie geworfen. Dabei wird vor allem untersucht, wie diese Art der Liturgie in den Gemeinden vor Ort umgesetzt werden kann. Hier werden neben den kirchlich anerkannten offiziellen Formen, auch neuere und durchaus schon erprobte Möglichkeiten zur gemeinschaftlichen Feier dargestellt. Das letzte Kapitel fasst die wichtigsten Erkenntnisse der Arbeit zusammen und gibt kleine Denkanstöße für die Zukunft der Tagzeitenliturgie.

The thesis deals with the post-conciliar reform of the Liturgy of the Hours in the Roman Catholic Church with a special focus on the celebration in the parish assembly The content of the thesis is organised as follows: The first chapter deals with the development of the Liturgy of the Hours from the time of the first Christians to the Second Vatican Council. In this chapter it is shown that the liturgy of the Hours developed in many places as a congregational liturgy and was understood and practised in this way throughout the first millennium AD. Subsequently, the reasons why the Liturgy of the Hours in the Roman Catholic Church increasingly became a private prayer of the clergy are mentioned. The remaining sub-chapters then deal exclusively with the further development in the Roman Catholic Church up to the Second Vatican Council. The second chapter then deals with the reform of the Liturgy of the Hours during the Second Vatican Council. Of particular importance here are the Council text ‘Sacrosanctum Concili-um’, which provided the impetus for the reform, and the ‘General Introduction to the Liturgy of the Hours’, which represents the results of the reform. However, the difficulties and dif-ferent positions during the work on the new Liturgy of the Hours are also examined and ex-plained. A short intermediate chapter then deals with the theology of the Liturgy of the Hours and its significance in the life of the Church. It also addresses the question of why it is so important for Christians to cultivate such a form of liturgical celebration. The fourth chapter, which is also the largest, then looks at the current state of the liturgy of the Hours. It examines how this type of liturgy can be implemented in local parishes. In addi-tion to the official forms recognised by the church, newer and already tried and tested options for communal celebration are also presented. The final chapter summarises the most important conclusions of the work and provides some food for thought for the future of the Liturgy of the Hours.
