In den letzten 25 Jahren gewann der Begriff Nachhaltigkeit (engl. Sustainability) an Popularität und wurde ein wichtiger Bestandteil in Entwicklungsstrategien und -pläne. Nationale, internationale und unabhängige Organisationen und Institutionen inkludierten den Gedanken der Nachhaltigkeit in ihre Strategien und Leitbilder. Neue privat-organisierte Wohnversorgungen mit dem Fokus auf Nachhaltigkeit begannen sich in den letzten zehn Jahren zu etablieren. Das Konzept des Cohousings ist jedoch ein seltenes Phänomen am Wiener Wohnungsmarkt. Eines der ersten Projekte bildet das Wohnprojekt Wien. Die Bewohner*innen verbindet ein gemeinsames Ziel: ein nachhaltiges Leben im urbanen Raum zu ermöglichen. Dementsprechend ist die Thematik Nachhaltigkeit ein zentraler Mechanismus, der nicht nur die Gebäudestruktur, sondern auch die soziale Struktur beeinflusst. Anhand des theoretischen Ansatzes Anthropology of policies wird der Begriff Nachhaltigkeit analysiert und seine Bedeutung für die Bewohner*innen des Cohousing Projektes herausgearbeitet.

Over the past 25 years, the term sustainability has gained on popularity and became an important part of development strategies and plans. National, international, and independent organisations and institutions have incorporated the concept of sustainability into their strategies and agendas. New privately organized housing provision with a focus on sustainability began to establish itself in the last ten years. However, the concept of cohousing is a rare phenomenon on the Vienna housing market. One of the first projects was the Wohnprojekt Wien (Vienna Housing Project). The residents are united by a common goal: to enable sustainable living in urban areas. Hence, the issue of sustainability is a central mechanism that influences not only the building structure but also the social structure. Using the theoretical approach of anthropology of policies, the concept of sustainability is analysed and its significance for the residents of the cohousing project is elaborated.
