Diese Masterarbeit untersucht Hoffnungen und Zukunftsvorstellungen im Kontext der Gemeinde San Miguel Tzinacapan (Puebla, Mexiko). Aufbauend auf dekolonialen Theorien wird gezeigt, wie koloniale Machtstrukturen bis heute Wissensproduktion, Wissenschaft und alltägliche Zeitpraktiken prägen. Es werden insbesondere die Kolonialität des Wissens und der Zeit analysiert, die sich in eurozentrischen Wahrheitsansprüchen, globalisierten Zeitordnungen und Fortschrittsidealen manifestieren. Demgegenüber eröffnet die Anthropologie der Zukunft neue Perspektiven auf Erwartung, Möglichkeit und Hoffnung. Hoffnung erscheint dabei nicht nur als Haltung, sondern als praktische Handlung mit transformativer Kraft. Unter Verwendung dekolonialer Methoden fand die Forschung mit lokalen Haushalten der Gemeinde San Miguel Tzinacapan und Radio Tsinaka, einem Community-Radio, statt. Im Rahmen einer kollaborativen Ethnographie verbrachten Julia Bernegger und die Autorin insgesamt dreieinhalb Monate in San Miguel Tzinacapan, wo sie ihre Reflexionen und Daten teilten. Die Forschung zeigt, wie Zukunft im Alltag der Comunidad verhandelt und gestaltet wird. Praktiken wie Kindererziehung, landwirtschaftliche Arbeit, Wissensweitergabe, Spiritualität und kollektive Organisation verdeutlichen das Zukünftige, das im Alltäglichen existiert. Ungleiche Zugänge zu Bildung, Gesundheit und ökonomischer Sicherheit sowie Formen von Resilienz werden aufgezeigt. Radio Tsinaka erweist sich dabei als zentrales Medium, das durch politische Unabhängigkeit feministische und ökologische Anliegen sichtbar macht und kollektiven Widerstand unterstützt. Die Arbeit plädiert für eine dekoloniale Forschungspraxis, die den Fokus nicht auf Defizite setzt, sondern Verantwortung, Positionalität und Wünsche betont. So wird deutlich, dass Zukunft in San Miguel Tzinacapan gleichermaßen von globalen Machtverhältnissen wie von lokalen Strategien der Hoffnung und gemeinschaftlicher Praxis geprägt ist.

This master's thesis examines hopes and perceptions of the future in the context of the community of San Miguel Tzinacapan (Puebla, Mexico). Building on decolonial theories, it shows how colonial power structures continue to shape knowledge production, science, and everyday practices of time. In particular, it analyzes the coloniality of knowledge and time, which manifests itself in Eurocentric claims to truth, globalized time orders, and ideals of progress. In contrast, the anthropology of the future opens up new perspectives on expectation, possibility, and hope. Hope appears not only as an attitude, but as practical action with transformative power. Using decolonial methods, the research was conducted with local households in the community of San Miguel Tzinacapan and Radio Tsinaka, a community radio station. As part of a collaborative ethnography, Julia Bernegger and the author spent a total of three and a half months in San Miguel Tzinacapan, where they shared their reflections and data. The research shows how the future is negotiated and shaped in the everyday life of the community. Practices such as raising children, agricultural work, knowledge transfer, spirituality, and collective organization illustrate the future that exists in everyday life. Unequal access to education, health, and economic security is highlighted, as are forms of resilience. Radio Tsinaka proves to be a central medium that, through its political independence, raises awareness of feminist and ecological issues and supports collective resistance. The work advocates for a decolonial research practice that emphasizes responsibility, positionality, and a focus on desires rather than damage. It thus becomes clear that the future in San Miguel Tzinacapan is shaped equally by global power relations and local strategies of hope and communal practice.
