Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
Corporate communications are changing and becoming more digital, which is leading to the establishment of social media and related shifts as part of the communication strategy. This has given rise to a new area of research interest to analyze corporate communications on social media networks in detail and on a platform-specific basis. This thesis analyzes the corporate communication of large companies and start-ups on the platform LinkedIn, focusing on the company account type and the CEO account. The aim of the study is to identify existing differences between the type of company and the account type in order to expand the detailed understanding of communication on the platform and strengthen the field of research. For this purpose, a quantitative content analysis was conducted, comparing the posts published within six months by four large companies and four start-ups with the corresponding account types. The results show significant differences in several aspects for both the company and account types, indicating target-oriented management of communication activities on LinkedIn. Key findings also include the high level of communication success achieved through personalized CEO accounts and the existence of a convincing strategy among start-ups and CEO accounts through the use of personalization and opinion sharing with an adressed target group.
