Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first develops the theoretical setting of stochastic differential equations, including the notions of strong and weak solutions, path-wise uniqueness, and the characterization of strong solutions. Particular attention is devoted to existence and uniqueness theorems under global and local Lipschitz conditions, as well as to the $C^{\infty}- \, $version of the diffeomorphism theorem and the non-crossing lemma. Building on this probabilistic foundation, the second part focuses in mathematical finance, with particular emphasis on the robustness of the Black–Scholes formula under volatility misspecification. After revisiting the classical pricing and hedging of an European call option under the Black–Scholes model, we investigate the impact of volatility misspecification on option prices and the associated hedging strategies. We then study an optimization problem in which a family of models is penalized, through an uncertainty-aversion parameter $\psi$, relative to a reference local volatility model. In particular, in the limit of small uncertainty aversion, explicit asymptotic formulas for the prices and hedging strategies of vanilla options are derived. Finally, we consider a novel multiplicative setting with logarithmic utility, where explicit expressions for the optimal hedging strategies and corresponding prices are also obtained.
