Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
In this Master's Thesis I propose a theoretical analysis for explaining two different phenomena, which are nonetheless related by involving kinship: Differential Possessive Marking and syncretic kinship nouns. I argue that the cause of Differential Possessive Marking is a syntactic feature that encodes uniqueness and whose parametrisation depends on the internal structure of kinship terms, which can be decomposed into other hierarchical syntactic features. This, together with the underspecification of the Morphology, accounts for different patterns of Differential Possessive Marking, as well as for syncretic kinship nouns.
