Abstract
(Deutsch)
Abstract
(Englisch)
In this master's thesis, we addressed the data storage requirements of the FactChecking prototype (FC). The main goal is to find suitable storage solutions and integrate them into FC. We started by analyzing well-established storage solutions. The focus of the analysis was to answer the questions about data type, database format (SQL, NoSQL, etc.), and database implementation (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, etc.) that should be used to store the data in the storage framework of FC. Additionally, we analyzed the storage services provided by the public cloud platforms and discussed the differences to on-premise solutions. The database solutions were evaluated regarding various aspects like performance, scalability, and costs. ´Based on the results of the analysis, we designed and implemented the storage framework for FC. The database services MongoDB and Cosmos DB have been integrated prototypically into FC, allowing the evaluation and flexible use of multiple database systems. The developed platform enables managing the database connections from the three supported types (MongoDB, CouchDB, and Cosmos DB), and supports migrating the data between these connections. Furthermore, it allows specifying which database connection is used by FC. Finally, we evaluated the implementation and the integrated database types by conducting performance tests. The results of the tests showed that MongoDB outperformed CouchDB and Cosmos DB across all tested operations.
